EMS5605 - EMT 12 hour(s) Elective Type: Technical Elective Special Funding Identifier: KS Excel in CTE Initiative The purpose of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course is to provide students with an academic and working knowledge to become Kansas certified and to provide basic life support patient care. It provides the basic concepts of emergency care, which are needed to function as an EMT. This class will be helpful for other health care fields and is a prerequisite for the Paramedic course. Prerequisite(s): Student must meet or exceed minimum reading score of 224 according to the ACCUPLACER Next Gen Reading test or ACT Reading score of 16 or higher; Associate degree or higher required to waive the reading test. High school vocational students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and be at least 17 years old.
At the start of the course, each student will be required to have a background check completed.
