Cowley College Cosmetology program is designed for students to obtain basic fundamentals as well as advanced techniques, people skills, and product knowledge using current salon technology that meets the requirements of today’s job market. A career in cosmetology can take the trained professional to all parts of the nation and the world. This field also allows individuals the opportunity to open their own business. A student in the Cosmetology Program may earn a vocational certificate or an Associate of Applied Science degree. To complete the program in one year Cosmetology I and II are taken in the fall semester and Cosmetology III and IV courses are spring classes. A 2-year option is also available for students in which only one Cosmetology course per semester is scheduled.  Upon successful completion of 1500 clock hours of coursework, students are eligible to take the Kansas State Board of Cosmetology (KBOC) licensing assessment. Once they pass the KBOC State exam, students are qualified to work in a salon. The program is one of the most job-ready programs offered by the college.
