Education: Health & Physical Education K-12 Transfer Pathway (AA)

Most people are acutely aware of the value of keeping physically fit and eating the right foods. As our changing work habits create more leisure time, organized recreational activities become more important. Whether it is teaching young people how to get in shape and remain physically fit for the rest of their lives, or working in the recreational field, planning organizing and directing activities to help people enjoy the free time they have recreation and physical education are fields with expanding opportunities. These are designed as transfer programs. Students can complete the first two years at Cowley College, and then transfer to a four-year college or university to finish a bachelor’s degree. General education courses taken while at Cowley College will transfer to most state universities in Kansas and other states.

Pathway Electives (23hours)*


The Associate of Arts degree requires a minimum of 23 hours of Pathway Electives. Students should work with their advisor and transfer institution to determine the most appropriate courses to complete within this block.

Minimum Hours for a Degree 62*


*A minimum of 62 hours is required to earn a Cowley Degree, however additional credit hours may be outlined on the transfer pathway to meet the program requirements for a transfer institution. 

Depending on skill level and assessment scores, students may be required to take the necessary basic skill or prerequisite courses prior to enrolling in the program courses.
