The duty of an Athletic Trainer is the management of injuries and conditions that occur during, or as the result of, physical activity. This management includes injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and health care maintenance. To become a Certified Athletic Trainer you must earn a bachelor’s degree from a college or university with an accredited program in athletic training. Cowley College two-year Associate of Science degree is designed to offer the classes that you would normally take in the first two years at a four-year institution. After you graduate from Cowley College, you will be ready to transfer to the accredited four-year school of your choice to continue your education in athletic training. After you finish your master’s degree, you will be eligible to take the certification exam for athletic training. (Please visit www.bocatc.org for specific certification information.) While earning your degree you may be chosen to work as an athletic training student for one of our seven varsity athletic teams. This gives you the opportunity to learn the profession with valuable hands-onexperience!
