Agriculture Transfer Pathway (AS)

The Agriculture Pathway is designed for the student interested in transferring to a university to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in an Agriculture focused discipline. Many opportunities exist within the agriculture industry such as Agri-Business, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, Soil or Grain Science, Food Science, etc. Required science courses vary based on the major chosen at the university level. Students should work with their advisor to determine the coursework that should be completed for their specific area of concentration and their intended transfer institution.

General Education Requirements (47 hours)
Computer Literacy (3 hours)
Humanities (6 hours)
Complete courses from 2 Different Departments (ART, FOL, HIS, HUM, LIT, MIN, MUS, PHO, REL, THE) - Studio and Performance courses cannot be included.

Social Sciences (6 hours)
Complete courses from 2 Different Departments (ANT, ECO, GEG, POL, PSY OR SOC)

The following are recommended electives for this pathway:
Science & Math (20 hours)
The following are the recommended Math and Science electives for this pathway. Students should work with their advisor to determine if additional coursework is needed to fulfill the requirements of their specific area of concentration/emphasis at their intended four-year transfer institution.
Depending on transfer institution major, some additional coursework may include Chemistry I, Chemistry II, Microbiology, or Organic Chemistry I and II.
Pathway Core Electives (8 hours)
The following courses are the core electives all Agriculture students should complete.
Pathway Electives (7-9 hours)
Complete at least 7 additional credits of coursework based on the student’s area of emphasis or concentration.
Minimum Hours for a Degree 62*
*A minimum of 62 hours is required to earn a Cowley degree; however additional credit hours may be outlined on the transfer pathway to meet the program requirements for a 4-year institution.
Depending on skill level and assessment scores, students may be required to take the necessary basic skill or prerequisite courses prior to enrolling in the program courses.
