KANSAS PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBLE PROGRAM

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Pathway provides students the opportunity to earn an Associate of Science Degree with an emphasis in Math and Science coursework for transfer into a Bachelor of Science degree program.

The Associate of Science Degree is outlined as a two-year degree and designed to transfer for a student interested in a program focusing on Math, Science, Engineering or a Health/Medical Profession. A minimum of 62 credit hours in the designated areas are required to complete the Associate of Science (AS) degree in Liberal Arts. (No particular major area of emphasis). The 15 Elective credits of coursework should be selected based upon the student’s area of emphasis for their transfer major.

Basic Skills (12 hours)

ENG2211 - Composition I (T►) 3 hour(s)
ENG2212 - Composition II (T►) 3 hour(s)
COM2711 - Public Speaking (T►) 3 hour(s) (or COM2725 IPC)
MTH4420 - College Algebra (T►) 3 hour(s) (or higher level Math)

Computer Literacy (3 hours)

Complete a 3 credit hour course to meet the Computer Literacy Elective requirement. **

Humanities (6 hours)

Complete a minimum of 6 credits of Humanities Electives from different disciplines (ART, FOL, HIS, HUM, LIT, MIN, MUS, PHO, REL, THE). (Studio and Performance courses cannot be included.)

Social Sciences (6 hours)

Complete a minimum of 6 credits of Social Science electives from different disciplines (ANT, ECO, GEG, POL, PSY, SOC).

Science and Math (20 hours)

Complete a minimum of 20 hours of Science and Math Electives from the listing of Natural Science / Math Elective(s) to fulfill this requirement. **

Pathway Electives (15 hours)

Complete a minimum of 15 hours of electives.

**Students should work with an advisor to select appropriate courses for transfer into their preferred STEM discipline and transfer institution.

PSY6720 - First Year Experience (FYE) is highly recommended as an elective for students enrolled in this pathway.

Minimum Hours for a Degree 62*

*A minimum of 62 hours is required to earn a Cowley degree; however additional credit hours may be outlined on the transfer pathway to meet the program requirements for a transfer institution.

Depending on skill level and assessment scores, students may be required to take the necessary basic skill or prerequisite courses prior to enrolling in the program courses.
