KANSAS PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBLE PROGRAM
NOTE: THIS PROGRAM FOLLOWS THE APPROVED ELEMENTARY EDUCATION TRANSFER PATHWAY OUTLINED BY THE KANSAS BOARD OF REGENTS
To teach young children in Kansas public schools, teachers must be certified by the State of Kansas upon completion of a four-year degree. Students interested in elementary education (PK-6) or early childhood education (birth to age 8) are encouraged to complete the Associate of Arts Degree prior to transfer. These course recommendations are intended for students who are planning to transfer to a Kansas Regents University and meet the approved transfer program framework. Students who desire to transfer to a private or out-of-state institution should consult the catalog of that school and visit with Cowley’s Director of Education. Students should be aware that admission to the junior year of an education, teacher licensure program is competitive and that each four-year college has specific admissions requirements including a minimum grade point average and a test of basic skills. For example, Fort Hays State has a requirement of a grade of “B” or better for the Composition and Oral Communications requirements and a “C” or better for Math and Education Pathway courses.
