KANSAS PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBLE PROGRAM
Diagnostic medical sonographers are professionals that produce and analyze images of the body which can be used by doctors to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions.
This Pre-Diagnostic Medical Sonography transfer pathway is specifically aligned to meet the pre-requisite coursework and requirements for transfer into Newman University’s Bachelor of Science Degree program and parallels the first two years of their course plan of study.

Kansas General Education Core Requirements (35 hours)
Successfully completing 35 hours of approved coursework in the following designated categories will fulfill the requirements of meeting the Kansas Systemwide General Education Core .
Basic Skills - English, Communications and Math (12 hours)
Complete 6 credits of English, 3 credits of Communications and at least 3 credits of a College-level Math course that’s most appropriate for the degree and transfer pathway.
Natural & Physical Laboratory Sciences (5 hours)
Complete 5 credits of Lab Science from approved Lab Science Elective(s). (BIO, CHM, GEO, PHS).
Social & Behavioral Sciences (6 hours)
Complete 6 credits from two different disciplines. (ANT, CRJ, ECO, GEG, MIN, POL, PSY, SOC).
Arts & Humanities (6 hours)
Complete 6 credits from two different disciplines. Select a 3 credit course from the Philosophy/Ethics Option and a 3 credit course from the Fine Arts Elective Option.
Additional Institution Core Requirements (6 hours)
To satisfy degree requirements to meet the Kansas system-wide general education core, complete 6 additional credits of approved electives applicable to the transfer pathway.
For Newman University, complete Cultural Anthropology and one Religion course (REL6432 or REL6434).
Pathway Electives (27 hours)*
The Associate of Science degree requires a minimum of 27 hours of Pathway Electives. Students should work with their advisor and transfer institution to determine the most appropriate courses to complete within this block. The following are recommended pathway electives for transfer to Newman University.
Total Hours 62*
Although Cowley College’s Associate of Science degree only requires 62 hours for degree conferral, this pathway requires 66 hours to meet all requirements to transfer into Newman’s program.
